THE CONTROLS

DRIVE THE
DETAIL.

01

DRIVE

DYNAMICS + DISTORTION

Bring quiet details forward and squeeze peaks across three fixed upper bands. Increase saturation with the same knob.

02

COLOUR

BODY / BITE / AIR

Shift the emphasis between low mids and highs. The sub-bass path below the 180 Hz crossover stays outside the distortion stages.

03

MIX

KEEP YOUR TRANSIENTS

Blend the treated sound into the original. 4× oversampling reduces distortion aliasing; host latency compensation keeps the insert aligned.

How do I use it?

Insert Psychotic on a synth, vocal, drum bus, or percussion track. Start with Drive around 20–40%, use Colour to move the emphasis, and blend with Mix. Drive at zero or Mix at zero restores the latency-compensated original signal. Match levels with your DAW’s gain controls.

Is this an OTT clone?

No. It takes inspiration from the broad idea of multiband upward and downward compression, combined with its own saturation and three macro controls.

What happens at the endpoints?

At minimum Drive the processed contribution is zero. As Drive rises, the face and intensity indicator change with the setting. Use Mix to retain more of the original signal.

What are the bands?

Fixed complementary crossovers at 180 Hz, 1.8 kHz, and 6.5 kHz separate a protected low path from three processed bands. The transitions overlap; they are not brick-wall filters.

Which systems and formats?

Development builds include Mac AU and VST3 for Apple Silicon and Intel, and Windows x64 VST3. Direct audio-engine and processor checks have passed. September 2026 development revision. Automated DSP/processor checks and isolated Mac AU/VST3 load checks passed. Native Windows and REAPER/Ableton testing, signing/notarization and final delivery checks remain before sale.

When can I buy it?

The individual plugin will be $40. Sales open after final release checks.

Meet LS Link ↗
How do the plugins communicate?

Enter an Instrument / track name below the controls. Low Standards plugin instances in the same DAW process share spectra and waveform analysis. Add the free LS Link companion to any other mixer track you want to see.

How do I compare instruments?

Use the same Session name on both tracks. In Rotation choose a Compare track to see its spectrum and overlap. In Pull Out choose a Kick waveform preview, then route the kick to the DAW sidechain separately if you want it to trigger ducking. Names and selections save with the project.

Does this require internet or change my audio?

Track analysis stays on your computer and needs no network connection. LS Link passes the original samples unchanged with zero added latency. Separately bridged plugin processes cannot discover each other. Match session names to separate projects.
